St. Catharine School proudly features one of the largest and most current libraries in the Western Cluster of Catholic schools. With over 11,000 books, our open-air library has three main areas:
- The Children’s Area / grades K-2
- The Main Library
- The Reference Room
Our library participates in the popular “Accelerated Reader” program, which guides enthusiastic young readers through more than 1,400 classic titles. As students progress through the program, they take small quizzes on each completed book, and earn small rewards as they advance through book lists.
Our library curriculum is designed to draw students into the pursuit of knowledge and entertainment that reading offers. As a recipient of the coveted Learning Link grant, we continually review and implement new methods and ideas for encouraging children to read. We participate in the following literary programs:
- The popular “Accelerated Reader Program” (grades 1-8)
- Grandparents Day K & 1
- Birthday Book Club
- Summer Reading Program
- Scholastic Book Fair
Our library is staffed by a part-time Librarian who is assisted by parent volunteers.
